Ack, why can I not write? I'm trying to finish my [info]spook_me David/Selena fic, and I love the premise, like, a lot, but actually getting it down is like pulling teeth. Yesterday I wrote 200 words! This was an improvement over the last four days. God, why is it hard?

Far more awesomely: [info]prettylightsfic is running again this year! Besides [info]yuletide, it looks like this may be the only holiday fic exchange I participate in this year (unless something new and awesome suddenly pops up - I would not say no to something Disney-themed, or even Glee), so I'm very excited. The poll to gauge interest in fandoms is up now, so if you have any interest in a multifandom RPF exchange, you should totally consider signing up, and go vote! And, I'm just saying - if you really love me (and are genuinely interested in participating), and wanted to suggest Disney RPF as a write-in fandom? I would totally not be opposed to that.

Since I have no new fic to offer (I'm still working on those meme prompt fics, I swear), have some episode reactions:

Glee )

One Tree Hill )

The last episode of Greek wasn't my favourite, but Ashleigh is adorable. As always. I'm kind of loving Eastwick (even though I'm not fully caught up yet), which I only really started watching because I love Jaime Ray Newman and Rebecca Romijn, but it's awesomely cracky and kind of enchanting. And I'm watching Flash Forward, mostly at [info]talumin's behest, but the only things I really care about are a) Janis, b) John Cho, and c) WHAT WAS UP WITH THE RANDOM FREAKING WALLABY? Um.

ETA: Haha, this window has been open so long that I managed to watch The Plan before I finished posting! Thinky thoughts to come, possibly?
4th Sep, 2009 09:55 am - August fic roundup
[clueless] as if
Fic writing was kind of sparse in August, but I did get one thing written:

Kinda Gay (One Tree Hill - Brooke/Peyton - PG-13 - 1103 words) How Brooke Davis learns that gay isn't a four-letter word (unless Bevin is spelling it).

I blame the dearth of real fic-related accomplishments partly on my absence in the first part of the month, and partly on doing other things - working on fanmixes, mostly, but also putting together some vid recs (that I should be posting soon) and starting an original fic project, which is way fun. And hunting down new and interesting forms of entertainment - Andromeda, which I'm not ashamed of (it's cheesy awesome, and I ♥ Rommie), and Wizards Of Waverly Place, which I kind of am. (But only kind of. Or not really. Whatever, I own my guilty pleasures.)

I also went bowling with my sister (belatedly) for her birthday, which was a lot of fun, and have officially booked a trip to New Zealand in January to see my mum, which should be awesome; the last time I saw her was in November, and I feel guilty about that. If only she weren't an international flight away. And if only I could actually afford to fly internationally.

Anyway, more fic should (hopefully) be forthcoming this month, and I'm planning on hosting another round of [info]remixthedrabble soon, before the holiday ficathon period gets well and truly underway. I usually sign up for one fandom-specific ficathon in addition to Yuletide and Pretty Lights - last year it was Merlin, the year before it was SGA - and honestly, right now I have no idea what that might be. Possibly Star Trek - [info]ladies1st is totally relevant to my interests - but I wouldn't mind doing something a little ... smaller fandom-related. Anyway, I look forward to being surprised :)

1st Feb, 2009 06:02 pm - January fic roundup
[oth] what i did on my summer vacation
I'm actually very happy with my fic output this month - seven fics, and around 19,000 words, plus a whole bunch more that I'll hopefully get around to posting soon. I added one new fandom (Merlin), rediscovered an old fandom (Veronica Mars ♥), and wrote stuff in a couple of others (One Tree Hill, One Tree Hill RPF, Farscape RPF).

Summer In The City (Merlin - Arthur/Morgana - PG - 3173 words) In which there is a summer festival, Morgana indulges in a spot of matchmaking, and she and Arthur fight. A lot. Spoilers up to episode 1:8 - The Beginning Of The End.

This Cat Is A Landmine (One Tree Hill - Whitey - PG - 1513 words) Whitey gets a kitten. The Ravens find out. Hijinks ensue.

Nice To Meet You Anyway (Veronica Mars - Casey/Veronica - PG-13 - 2462 words) Trust doesn't come that easily. Spoilers up to episode 1:9 - Drinking The Kool-Aid.

Picking Winners (Veronica Mars - Lamb/Veronica - NC-17 - 2576 words) Who wanted to be indoors studying when the alternative was spending an hour or two watching the fine men of the Balboa County Fire Department? Spoilers up to episode 2:13 - Ain't No Magic Mountain High Enough.

Try This Trick And Spin It (Veronica Mars - Lamb/Veronica - NC-17 - 3077 words) "Veronica Mars is smarter than me." Spoilers up to episode 3:12 - There's Got To Be A Morning After Pill.

Are You Gonna Be My Girl (Farscape RPF - Ben Browder/Claudia Black - R - 3500 words) It's a good thing, he thinks, that John is supposed to be in love with Aeryn, or people might start asking questions. (aka. Five outfits Ben and Claudia wear, in varying degrees of ridiculousness.)

Method Acting (Decipher Reflections From Reality) (One Tree Hill RPF - James Lafferty/Bethany Joy Galeotti - PG - 2694 words) Her life is measured out in almosts. (She almost took a risk, once, but it was only fiction.) Five times fiction and reality were almost the same thing.

[oc] taylor
I signed up for [info]purimgifts again this year, and I just got my assignment, which is awesome. After finishing a bunch of long fics all in a row, I think a low pressure fic gift basket is exactly what I need.

(And yes, for those waiting, I am working on the birthday fics I promised. I've just been a little distracted, oops.)

In case you're my [info]purimgifts author, hello! I've written up a little bit about the fandoms I asked for and my favourite (Jewish and/or female) characters; in any of these fandoms, I'd love anything, of course, but this is just in case you're looking for a bit of extra direction :)

In general, I love fun stories; I'm not so much with the angst, but go for it if it's your thing. I love het and femslash as well as gen, and I really love female characters. Humour, crack, fluff, AU, banter, UST - I'll love pretty much anything, so just write whatever's fun for you!

[vm] acceptable in the eighties
TV is back on! I haven't actually started watching it yet, but there's a new Legend of the Seeker I'm very excited about. And BSG comes back in a few days ...

All my holiday exchange fics have been finished and posted:

Summer In The City (Merlin - Arthur/Morgana - PG - 3173 words) In which there is a summer festival, Morgana indulges in a spot of matchmaking, and she and Arthur fight. A lot. Spoilers up to episode 1:8 - The Beginning Of The End. Written for [info]breakingbeads for [info]merlin_santa.

Are You Gonna Be My Girl (Farscape RPF - Ben Browder/Claudia Black - R - 3500 words) It's a good thing, he thinks, that John is supposed to be in love with Aeryn, or people might start asking questions. (aka. Five outfits Ben and Claudia wear, in varying degrees of ridiculousness.) Written for [info]sugargroupie for [info]yuletide.

Written for [info]sugargroupie for [info]prettylightsfic.

So, yes, I ended up writing for the same person for Yuletide and Pretty Lights. And I could have written Ben/Claudia for both exchanges, but the Pretty Lights assignment came pretty much as I was just starting to rewatch One Tree Hill, so I decided to go for a little diversity instead. The Pretty Lights story ended up not being quite what I intended (it was supposed to be flirty and happy and fluffy, which it ended up being ... not so much), but I'm pretty happy with the way all my exchange fics turned out. And I'm very happy with what I received in return, so it was an excellent holiday ficathon season.

Even more exciting, apparently I've started writing Veronica Mars fic again:

Nice To Meet You Anyway (Veronica Mars - Casey/Veronica - PG-13 - 2462 words) Trust doesn't come that easily. Spoilers up to episode 1:9 - Drinking The Kool-Aid.

General Veronica Mars fic + fandom ramblings )

So I'm feeling very happily and productively fannish at the moment. Not to mention a couple of other fics I should be writing in Weeds and Skins, because I may be a lot of things, but lacking in new fandoms I am not. (OMG Tony/Effy! [info]falseeeyelashes, I blame you and your epic OTP picspam.)

So, I'm really not sure when I'm going to have time to get around to actually watching television, but I feel like I'm okay with that.

Notes: I blame [info]talumin entirely for this. While watching episode 1:13 - Hanging By A Moment, he suggested that Keith, instead of bringing Whitey alcohol, should have brought him a kitten. This was the end result of that conversation.

[oth] haley
Two fics posted in December, which is not the same as the number of fics I wrote (a few exchange fics, plus one I didn't get around to typing up yet).

One Tree Hill

Finding Out True Love Is Blind (One Tree Hill - Nathan/Brooke/Haley - R - 2571 words) It happens in the girls' locker room, of all places, and all Haley can think is that she's suddenly become a cliché. Spoilers up to mid-season three.

Stargate SG-1

Ask Me No Secrets And I'll Tell You No Lies (Sam/Vala - NC-17 - 2724 words) Vala isn't easy to figure out, but Sam's a quick learner. (Or, four times Sam and Vala were nearly caught, and one time they weren't.)
8th Dec, 2008 01:49 pm - When it's not love
[misc] t-shirt
Thing: I saw High School Musical 3! And it was awesome. And, okay, the theatre was mostly filled with giggling eight year old girls, but whatever. I laughed throughout, like, the whole thing (roughly equal parts amusement and affection), and there was singing and dancing and basketball and prom and graduation and Ryan being delightfully gay and an entire scene whose sole purpose, as far as I could tell, was to have everyone in the cast grope hug Gabriella. Anyway, that was pretty much the final part to my whole birthday week extravaganza, and I had a blast.

Also, while we were shopping beforehand, Jeremy asked me if I would want a High School Musical DDR-type game, and I was forced to admit that, yes, I really would want that. I'm not sure if I just turned twenty-five or twelve.

Thing 1: Vid insta-rec! (Now That I Can) Dance by [info]ladymajavader Legend of the Seeker, Richard/Kahlan. Richard tries to impress Kahlan with a combination of flying leaps, pervasive shirtlessness and funky new dance moves he learned just for her. But does she love him (now that he can dance)? I know fandom's collective attention is currently focused on a different cracky fantasy show, but I kind of love Legend of the Seeker beyond the telling of it. Even if you're not watching the show, I'd definitely recommend this vid, which is awesome and upbeat and dance-y and cracky and shirtless. Guh.

Thing 3: One Tree Hill!! ♥ Okay, so some of you might be questioning my fandom choices by now, but I refuse to care. I just finished season two, and oh, with Dan -> building on fire and Anders HOT UNCLE COOPER! and Nathan having, like, the best breakdown in the history of ever (where he goes to school because he threw his Playstation at the wall his Playstation broke, and his idea of punishing Haley is to paint the apartment pink and hang pictures of clowns, which is pretty much completely awesome) and crashing race cars and cracky AUs, and ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

I wrote fic! Maybe not the fic I was supposed to be writing, but whatever.

Finding Out True Love Is Blind (One Tree Hill - Nathan/Brooke/Haley - R - 2571 words) It happens in the girls' locker room, of all places, and all Haley can think is that she's suddenly become a cliché. Spoilers up to mid-season three.

Written for [info]talumin, who requested Nathan/Brooke/Haley fic for his birthday. Which, um, was in March, so this is unforgiveably late. But it's finally finished, and only a few months before I have to write another one. Hooray!

I was kind of stalled on this for ages, but a few days ago I sat down and wrote almost the entire thing in one sitting. Which was not so great for my hand or my back (possibly I should stop writing everything longhand?), but was pretty awesome nonetheless. This sudden burst of inspiration can probably be credited to three things:

a) My Brooke/Haley fic being recced on [info]crack_van. That fic was actually the catalyst for [info]talumin's request, and it's a fic I really love, so rereading it helped a lot.

b) My recent resurgence of One Tree Hill love. One of the reasons it took me so long to write this was because I really hadn't been into the show for a while, but the last few episodes (which have been a vast improvement over the beginning of the season), coupled with beginning a rewatch of season one, made me love it all over again.

c) Holiday ficathon deadlines. It's not like I'm dreading those, really, since I'm reasonably on top of everything, but they do make writing anything else seem like a fun deviation.

So, the fic is done, finally, and I'm totally excited, because it's my birthday tomorrow! I'm celebrating by giving out fics or other fannish goodies, so if you want to request something (please do!), just ask me here. I also plan on drinking ridiculous amounts of cheap, girly, fruity "champagne" and watching more One Tree Hill, and it's going to be awesome.

So, the house inspection we were supposed to have? Yeah, not so much with the happening. Apparently, the real estate agents tried to send someone else over to do it (who, or why, I have no idea), and then, they just ... didn't. 2nd Jul, 2008 06:46 pm - June fic roundup
[misc] t-shirt
This was a bit of a slow month, as far as fic goes. Partly because I've been vidding, which is time-consuming like whoa, and partly because I've been working on exchange fics for the next couple of months. Anyway, hopefully July will see me write a bit more.

Five fics, in four fandoms - Friday Night Lights, Gossip Girl RPF, One Tree Hill RPF, and Torchwood RPF. (Yeah, apparently it was RPF month for me, too.)

Friday Night Lights

Decent Days And Nights (Jason/Tyra - PG-13 - 2634 words) Scenes from a new life (in no particular order). Spoilers up to episode 2:9 - The Confession.

Real Person Fic

For Reasons Unknown (John Barrowman/Eve Myles - R - 396 words) There are a thousand reasons why they shouldn't be doing this, and every one of them makes her want to laugh.

Notoriety (Like It's Going Out Of Fashion) (Ed Westwick/Leighton Meester - PG-13 - 630 words) Ed's the first to have the article pinned up.

Since The Shakespeare Changed Its Name (Torchwood Ensemble - PG - 374 words) "I could have an evil twin." Spoilers up to episode 2:13 - Exit Wounds.

Your Boyfriend Sucks (Chad Michael Murray/Hilarie Burton - PG-13 - 435 words) She needs a shower, and now.

Decent Days and Nights and Your Boyfriend Sucks were written for [info]random00b for Sweet Charity; the others were written for a couple of RPF challenges (Since The Shakespeare Changed Its Name won second place at [info]tw_cast.)

Banner under the cut )

Currently working on: Ficathon assignments for [info]femslash08, [info]apocalyptothon, and [info]femgenficathon; Callum/Katee fic for [info]crickets; semi-abandoned Torchwood fic for [info]stagesoflove; (very) belated birthday fic for [info]talumin. And maybe a few longer fics I've been meaning to finish, if I can get back into the writing groove.

Dear [info]femslash08 writer:

Thank you so much! Whoever you are, I'm very glad you're going to be writing a fic for me - that's awesome, and whatever you come up with, I'm sure to love to death.

Both written for [info]random00b - the FNL fic was what she commissioned me for, plus a bonus ficlet because she was so incredibly patient with me. Yes, I wrote Chad Michael Murray. I don't know, either.
