So, posting my lastest fic roundup, I realised I'd written in most of those fandoms before - except Doom. That one came as a surprise to me, honestly. Fandom has been undergoing a Karl Urban resurgence lately, which means I've been watching (or rewatching) a lot of things I wouldn't otherwise have got the chance to. A few episodes of Xena came first, which convinced me I really needed to get the series on DVD, and Doom ...

After having written nothing since March(!), I finally posted fic this month - six, to be exact, in five different fandoms, plus a crossover. I also updated As You Like It, which has been languishing since 2007, taking my total word count this month up to about 10,000 words - something I'm definitely not unhappy with.

I finished my Sweet Charity fic! I emailed the person who bought me, so I'll wait until I hear back from them to post it, but, yay! This means the only hard deadline I have over the next couple of weeks is remixredux09, and I have a decent handle on that. And the rest of my time is mine! I can write some more Doom fic (don't judge - I love what I love), maybe some bsg_pornbattle fics, hopefully finish the next chapter of As You Like it. And order Chinese food and watch D.E.B.S. with talumin, which is what I'm planning on doing right now.

Quentin Tarantino ships Ryan/Kelly!! This is awesome and hilarious. I swear, if they don't interact more in season six, I will ... keep watching, in the vain hope that someday they will, but I won't be happy about it.

Also, I may have watched Doom. And found it awesome. Yeah, I don't know, either.

I just posted the latest chapter of a fic that hasn't been updated since 2007. Weird.

This is only the third chaptered fic I've ever written, and only two of those were actually WIPs. I was writing What Goes Down faster than I could actually post it, and it ended up being finished in about three weeks; with Down Again, I wrote the entire thing before I started posting, and that only took about nine days. So this is definitely not my usual pace. But hooray for progress, anyway.

In the past week, I've finished sabaceanbabe's birthday fic (so late - I ended up going through about four or five different ideas before I found one that would let me write it), my remixthedrabble fics, and this. Take that, writer's block! I had to drop out of thelittlebang and boxofmagic, but suddenly the rest of my deadlines are looking very manageable (and they're all spaced neatly apart, which is cool).

Now I'm going to reward myself by watching Earth 2, and hopefully writing some fic for oxoniensis' porn battle. Yay!

Wow, it feels like forever since I've properly updated. In case you're wondering why, it's for the same reason as always - I tripped over a new fandom. In this case, it's Brothers and Sisters, and, yeah. It's an angsty family melodrama, which really isn't my usual type of show, and yet ... I don't know, it's strangely addictive.

And, okay, it has Justin/Rebecca, which is the real reason I started watching. Don't act like you're surprised.

Briefly, in non-fannish news, technology apparently hates me. First, my desktop computer totally died, and it took us forever to find out what the problem was. It turned out to be the video card, which kind of sucks, because J was looking forward to me (eventually) getting a new computer so he could snag my video card and get rid of his old crappy one. Luckily, I only really use that computer for gaming, and we've put his video card in my computer so I can still do that, but it's a temporary fix.

And then, because apparently I wasn't done, I was ... erm, maybe fiddling with some files on my laptop, and I managed to erase the entire contents of my iTunes. I still have all my music, luckily, but everything else - all my playlists, including my list of potential vid songs, some awesome fanmixes (from other people), and a couple of fanmixes in progress (mine) - is totally gone. Sigh. I figure as long as nothing blows up in the next couple of days, I'm probably safe from further meltdowns.

More happily, today I submitted my postgrad uni application. I'm not sure when I'll find out whether I got in - I applied for mid-year entry, which means there might be limited places available - but I'm nervous and really hopeful right now.

Fannishly: remixthedrabble is opening sign ups for its next round soon. I'm a huge fan of the challenge (and, okay, a co-mod), and it's a lot of fun; this round is going to be a drabble purist round, which means all remixes must be 100 words exactly. Which is a really awesome challenge, plus it means that, unlike other challenges, it's a relatively small time investment. So, go check out the community, and please think about signing up when the challenge goes live!

I really might have to write that Kevin/Julia(/Scotty) thing. Except for the fact that I have a million fic obligations right now and absolutely no time. And two big bangs due in roughly a month or so, which ... I won't lie. If we can keep this just between us, dear flist and assorted lurkers, they are not nearly as far progressed as they should be. At all. So the next month is either going to be very busy, or suddenly free right up, depending on whether or not I think I can actually finish them. Like, I don't doubt that I could finish them, I'm just not particularly invested in either of them right now as much as I need to be in order to do that. I might have to put them on hold? But then I'd feel majorly guilty about signing up and not delivering.

Since I decided to write Brothers and Sisters for femgenficathon, though, that seems to be going swimmingly. At least something is.

I got a Dreamwidth invite! I'm amathela over there as well, so stop by and say hi, and let me know if you have an account there already. I'm not planning on leaving LiveJournal, but new and shiny things never fail to excite me, so I think I'll at least give Dreamwidth a chance (and it seems fairly compatible with LJ, so that's a plus).

I only write two fics in March, which is not that surprising, considering I've been working on my stories for thelittlebang and boxofmagic. Anyway, they were both for fandoms I hadn't written in for a while, so I'm counting it as a win.


I Enjoy Being (Insert Here) (Arrested Development - Michael/Lindsay - PG-13 - 1169 words) Two things Lindsay tried to be, and one she didn't have to (but did anyway).

Electric Feel (Heroes - Nathan/Claire - R - 1252 words) The wallpaper is too loud, the water pressure sucks, and she already misses her own bed. Spoilers up to episode 3:19 - Shades Of Gray.


The latter was written for the Heroes anon kink meme, which is actually the first time I've participated in a kink meme; it was a lot of fun. And I really meant to write some fics for bsg_pornbattle, but I was out of town (and without internet access) the weekend it was on. I still need to read the fics that were posted there, though, and I might even end up using some of the prompts as inspiration for later fics.

And, whew! I (finally) finished my BSG miniseries picspam, which took me way longer than I anticipated - still, it was a lot of fun, and the pretty = ♥. One thing-in-progress done, only a zillion to go.

With BSG at an end, and the rewatch going on at bsg_refrak, I thought I'd do a picspam of the miniseries. (Sort of.) Includes pics from later episodes, so there are spoilers all the way up to episode 4:20 - Daybreak (Part Two).

Okay, it's officially surprising how reinvested in BSG I am now that the show is over. Which is odd, because it's not like I really loved the finale. (There's definitely something about imperfect canon sources and fannish impetus, particularly since the character I'm most in love with right now is Boomer.)

I rewatched the miniseries a week or so ago for bsg_refrak, and then I watched all of season one (because I love that season, like, unreservedly), and then today, I watched the miniseries again. And, I don't know, I really feel like the miniseries gets better and better every time you watch it - like, the first time I watched it, I remember it felt like it went for about six hours, and was just incredibly dense (but awesome). But after the ... fourth or fifth time through, it feels really well-balanced and easy to watch and not too heavy at all. Which, in retrospect, may have something to do with the fact that I first started watching BSG after starting SGA ;)

Anyway, I was going to watch season one - again - but I decided I felt like watching season 4.0 instead, since I now have it on DVD and everything. So I'm doing that. It's actually a lot of fun, especially since I can marathon it now; I didn't get to do that the first time through, and it's definitely the way I prefer to watch my TV shows.

What I should be doing, of course, is working on my Big Bang(s), but, I don't know. I'm really procrastinating on that, plus they're just ... not BSG. I have very little time for things that aren't BSG right now. I'm feeling almost monofannish, actually, which is something I've never felt before. It's new, and kind of exciting (if somewhat inconvenient, re: the aforementioned Big Bangs).

I still need to type up some episode reactions (man, I haven't done those - at least, for non-BSG shows - for ages, but Greek came back this week, and I am so freaking excited about that), plus a couple of BSG meta posts I still really want to write. And vid recs, because I really believe, in a totally subjective and biased fashion, that BSG fandom has the best vids ever. And my March fic roundup (of all of two fics), which I will post shortly. At least my miniseries(-ish) picspam is nearly done.

Plus, I am kind of having vid thoughts. Which, I know, I say that from time to time and inevitably never follow through. But this time, I actually have all the footage already sourced, which is usually my biggest problem - like, I run out of vidding momentum before I even really get started on a vid, which sucks. So, who knows. One day, I swear, I will actually make a vid, and not just parts of one.

Also, it's 3pm and haven't slept, so - maybe I should get on that?

ETA: Dude, what's going on at Kindreds? (I mean, I guess I could check it out myself, but.) I haven't visited there for ages - I should really rectify that, once I get it together enough to write some Helo/Athena fic.

Sweet Charity ends in less than 24 hours, so there's still time to bid. We've raised almost £7,000 already, which is completely awesome. It's slightly less awesome than I've been outbid on all the things I wanted, but I can't wait to see what comes out of the auction, anyway!
