SO. I AM TOTALLY BEHIND HERE, AND I'M SURE THIS WILL SURPRISE ABSOLUTELY NO-ONE, BUT HOW MUCH DO I LOVE WHIP IT? SO FREAKING MUCH ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ OMG CUTE GIRLS HITTING THINGS AND BEING RIDICULOUSLY GAY IN ROLLERSKATES, COULD THIS MOVIE BE ANY MORE PERFECT?

Why are there no Whip It vids, universe? This is obviously a wrong that must be corrected. And now I kind of want a Disney RPF/Whip It fusion WHERE DEMI AND SELENA JOIN ROLLER DERBY, COME ON, IT WOULD BE AWESOME. I also think there should be a Zac/Vanessa Back to the Future AU, IDEK. But Zac Efron kind of reminds me of a young Michael J Fox, so, clearly it should be a thing.

Also, in things that aren't related but sound like they are, I really think somebody should vid Psych to Whip It (the song). Devo is still cool, right?

Anyway, I spent all weekend copying everything on my computer to an eternal HD, erasing my hard drive, and installing a new operating system. (Before that, I was running Tiger, which. New software wouldn't run on my computer! So this is much better.) And then reinstalling everything. Which took a long time, but I ended up with, like 20GB of extra space on my hard drive, so I'm not complaining.

And I watched Brothers & Sisters, which - apparently Joe Jonas was supposed to be on the show? ( Really old casting + episode spoilers )

Um, and I signed up for twitter, so I guess I'm doing that now?

YOU GUYS, MY apocabigbang DRAFT IS DONE.

I mean, it's going to need some heavy editing - mostly for tone and pacing, but also for other stuff; I wrote it in a bunch of sittings, and didn't actually read over it each time, so there are probably a lot of words, phrases, etc. that I've overused. (God, this is such a rough draft.) And I need to make sure the plot actually makes sense, that there are no plot holes or stuff I've left out or stuff I've repeated, and I want to go over the plot and make sure I like it and there's nothing I should change or could do better. (Like the romance angle, which I was kind of like - should it be moving faster? Slower? Is it totally uneven? Should it be overt, or kind of unspoken like in Mnemonic Devices, OH GOD, SHOULD IT BE GEN? But I like where it ended up, I think, so I just need to go over the stuff leading up to that.) And it'll undoubtedly need a line edit for grammar/spelling/typos/whatever. And after get all that done, I think I'll send it off to beta :P

BUT. IT IS DONE, AND FINISHED, AND I CAN SEND IT OFF AND MAYBE, LIKE, NOT LOOK AT IT FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS, WOULDN'T THAT BE NICE?

I think I'll start drinking now.

Next up: help_haiti fic, and then post-Yuletide fics and halfamoon and purimgifts, and then maybe stuff that's just for fun! It could happen.

Damn. For some reason, I was convinced that the porn battle didn't end for another few days - oops! Well, I'll be writing Cara/Kahlan fic anyway, just not for that.

My apocabigbang fic is at 20,000 words, and the first draft is *thisclose* to being done. All that's left to write is the big final battle scene; I'm hoping I can finish it off tomorrow, otherwise I'll just have to send the draft off with notes like "insert cool fight sequence here," and "this part is in the cafeteria."

I really want to participate in halfamoon, since it's an awesome community, but I'm not sure if I'll have time. Still - if you give me the name of a female character(s) in any fandom you know I'm familiar with (and some kind of prompt), I'll try to write at least a drabble. Femslash and female friendships also welcome :D

1. help_haiti auctions are ongoing until January 20th. I love fandom for doing stuff like this. I'm offering to write a fic of at least 5000 words - especially in Wizards of Waverly Place, Disney RPF, etc. but I'm open to requests from other fandoms. The current bid is $20, and my thread is located here if you'd like to bid on fic from me; there are hundreds of things on offer, so you should definitely check out the community if you'd like to help out. (Sadly, I cannot bid on anything right now, but I'm doing what I can.)


2. purimgifts is open for sign ups until January 19th. I was planning to pare down my ficathon involvement this year, but purimgifts is my go-to low-stress ficathon - three ficlets (300-1000 words), in any fandom, focusing on characters who are Jewish and/or women and/or persecuted by evil viziers. Anyway, it's always super fun, so I signed up for that again.


3. chaos_thon is a ficathon based on that fictional TV show meme that was floating around. Which - I had so much fun with that thing, so I'm seriously considering signing up. I'm not entirely sure, yet, if I want to use the one I already did, or come up with something new for the ficathon - help? If you guys wanted to leave any scenarios for fictional TV shows in the comments, I would totally appreciate that. You can also sign up to write something based on your own fictional show (until January 24th), or leave prompts or put your shows up for adoption.


4. I'm (barely) resisting the urge to sign up for an episode at planetside_c. Also: finishing my apocalyptothon fic (at least, the WOWP one - the Disney RPF one is, I think, not going to happen this round), writing fic I owe pirateygoodness and yo_mtvraps, and putting together a small fandom primer for Diplomatic Immunity. I'm totally on top of things. And not overcommitted in any way. Totally.

I'm tempted to sign up for au_bigbang. I could do the knight!Demi/princess!Selena fic? I'm still on the fence about it, though. The fact that all fics have to be posted directly to the community seems a little counterintuitive for a big bang - I'll have to remember to stop watching the community before the posting period.

Somebody should run a Disney big bang, I would be all over that.

Also, I found Diplomatic Immunity on DVD, yay! I should do a pimp post later, since it's awesome and you guys should be watching it. I should also be writing, so ... maybe I'll go do that?

I'm leaving early tomorrow morning for New Zealand, yay! I'll have internet access, but it'll be limited; I'll still (hopefully) be able to reply to comments, etc. but if you really need to get in touch with me, email or PM is probably best. ... but, then again, two of my fics were accurately guessed before the reveals, so.
